15,000 spectators at the P1 Scottish Grand Prix of the Sea

John Moore on 18th June 2016

Bright sunshine, a stunning backdrop of the Argyll hills and the calm waters of the river Clyde provided a perfect setting for P1 SuperStock powerboat racing.

The mile stretch of the Esplanade featured over 30 trade stands as part of the Inverclyde Showcase highlighting tourism-related businesses in the Inverclyde area.

After three SuperStock races It was the brother and sister duo of Sam and Daisy Coleman who took the honours, to the delight of their exuberant sponsors Pertemps, leaving them contemplating a Grand Prix victory and first place in the overall championship standings.

Experience Kissimmee, competing in only their second round of the P1 SuperStock championship, grabbed a second place finish overall, closely followed by Pickfords.

Strong local support for the Spirit of Inverclyde team pushed them to a respectable fourth, whilst Rawbank and Quantum Racing both suffered setbacks in the final race of the day to slip down the standings.
