2022 P1 AquaX Bahamas World Championship

Frode Sundsdal on 31st August 2022

Powerboat P1 has announced that the 2022 P1 AquaX Bahamas World Championship will return to Nassau Paradise Island from November 4-6, 2022.

The iconic Atlantis Paradise Island resort will serve as the host destination for the three-day event that marks the climax of the P1 AquaX personal watercraft race season.

The World Championship is a collaborative partnership between the Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board and Atlantis Paradise Island. One of the most renowned resort destinations in the world, Atlantis Paradise Island features five towers, Aquaventure, an innovative, 141-acre waterscape of thrilling slides and river rides, pools, the largest open-air marine habitat in the world, premier dining options, a world-class casino and a multitude of amenities and interactive experiences suitable for every type of traveler.

The P1 AquaX Bahamas World Championship will feature a total of forty endurance riders, both professional and amateur, who primarily qualify through performances in the USA national race series.

In addition, the position of racers in the P1 AquaX World Rankings, which identifies the most consistent and successful riders in the world, will secure a place in the World Championship along with two qualifiers from the P1 AquaX Cayman Islands National Tour and a limited number of wildcard invitations. Riders seeking qualification through racing in the United States national championship will compete in the P1 AquaX Race to the Bahamas World Championship.

The result will be an international, elite field of the world’s best personal watercraft racers representing more than a dozen countries, with the Pro Enduro riders competing for the world title and the amateur riders battling for the P1 AquaX Amateur International Cup.

Powerboat P1 CEO Azam Rangoonwala said:

Media and broadcast relationships play a key role in building P1 AquaX’s international presence and delivering significant exposure for host venues and commercial partners.

The event will be broadcast in the United States on the Bally Sports Regional Networks and CBS Sports Network, with international coverage on leading sports channels in more than 100 million homes in over 50 countries.

The opening day will include practice, testing, and qualifying, followed by six races across the weekend. Atlantis Paradise Island will provide a breathtaking setting for the high-speed action, and we could not be more pleased to partner with the resort again.

Audrey Oswell, President and Managing Director, Atlantis Paradise Island commented on the event:

Atlantis Paradise Island extends a warm welcome to P1 AquaX competitors and fans, who will travel from around the world to experience The Bahamas and our world-class resort.

We have had a long, successful history of hosting many sporting events at Atlantis Paradise Island, and P1 AquaX has been a wonderful addition to the mix.

This thrilling competition combines ocean adventure with family fun, offering experiences that further Atlantis’ reputation as the most remarkable resort destination in the world. We are looking forward to November.

The Bahamas is an archipelago of seven hundred breathtaking islands that starts just fifty miles off the Florida coast. Paradise Island sits offshore from the Island of New Providence, with two bridges connecting it to the city of Nassau.
