Jason Mantripp will be heading to the CPA British Sprint Championships on Friday for his first major event since 2019 with his newly rebranded OSY 400 team.
JSM 22 Racing Team, formally known as Team 51 underwent a name change earlier this year to coincide with the purchase of a new Mosquito hull built in Estonia by Erko Abrams.
Mantripp’s cousin Simon will be making the journey with the team to the event that will be organised and hosted by the Stewartby Powerboat & Hydroplane Racing Club.
Simon Mantripp is the team’s technical wizard and Jason Mantripp told me today:
We are very happy with the speed of the boat and Simon is making a few more tweaks to make the boat handle exactly how we want it to.
I want to thank my partners BFS-FABS, Carlton Upvc Home Improvements and Abi’s Beauty @ Redz who are supporting me this season.
JSM 22 Racing Team will also be using the race number that was used by Andy Chesman who lost his life on the River Elbe in Hamburg back in 1998.
Mantripp continued:
The team will be hoping to do the Chesman Family proud as it is the first time that Andy’s race number has been used in hydroplane racing since that tragic day in Germany.
The on-water action is due to start at 10:00 on both days and the club are putting on a BBQ on Saturday evening with tickets priced at £6.00.
