Anglo-Polish Team – Sunus Ocean Racing are preparing for the Cowes Torquay Cowes

John Moore on 21st April 2016

Sunus Ocean Racing has come from a mould that was taken from a 1982 Steve Baker / 30′ Phantom hull ‘Warlord’ in 2007. With Baker overseeing the project, the hull was stretched by 2′.

Nick Gilley and Jon Fuller then successfully campaigned the 32′ Phantom hull ‘Swipewipes’ in the 2008 Round Britain Powerboat Race and 6 Cowes Torquay Cowes events.

sunus_2Madness Marine Racing owned by Michał Galczewski and based in Poland purchased the moulds a couple of years ago and their first boat is in now in the final rigging stage.
The new 32′ hull proudly boasts a pair of Evinrude 300hp Outboards.

Testing will start on the Baltic Sea shortly to understand engine heights before fitting an ‘in-house’ designed ‘stand off bracket’ for the motors to sit on.

Galczewski will then team up with the British based food entrepreneur and powerboat racer, Tom Montgomery-Swan for a crack at the Cowes Torquay Cowes race in September.
