Benavente takes home Pole

Tony Blom-Pettersen on 17th September 2022

Portugal’s Duarte Benavente took Pole Position for the finale of the 2022 UIM F2 Championship in Vila Velha de Ródão.

On a stretch of water that Benavente uses to test both his F1 and F2 boats, he posted the fastest time of 44.809 with Tobias Munthe-Kaas just behind with a 44.936.

In one of the most exciting qualifying UIM F2 sessions in years, the focus was on the leading championship contenders.

The quickest of those was Sami Seliö and Stefan Hagin just behind him.

Incredibly both Seliö and Hagin finished the Q3 session with identical times, the Team Sharjah driver was classified third due to setting his time first and the German fourth.

Mansoor Al Mansoori who leads the championship failed to progress to the final 15 minutes and will start from 7th tomorrow.

Giacomo Sacchi (4th on the leaderboard) was 10th after having the fastest lap in Q2 struck off.
