Buoy arrests Police on title charge – Torrente and Al Mansoori lead XCAT Championship

John Moore on 3rd November 2019

Arif Al Zaffain and Nadir Bin Hendi were given a 30 second penalty for hitting a buoy in today’s XCAT race, the Dubai Police team had been classified as finishing third, they are now demoted to fourth.

That decision has a huge impact on the 2019 XCAT World Championship as the pairing were topping the table when the provisional results were published.

With Shaun Torrente and Faleh Al Mansoori being promoted to third, the reigning world champions lead the championship by 5 points ahead of the final round in Dubai next month.

Torrente told me after:

As a team we are very happy with the way Abu Dhabi 5 ran all weekend, Rashed and Majed did an amazing job.

However, we had so many problems!

We broke 2 engines, a mid-section and had an accident at the start of the last race.

To get a second, fifth and a third, we are thrilled to be going to Dubai with the future in our hands!
