Can Torrente do the Double again?

John Moore on 4th November 2019

December is normally a time when most people’s thoughts are turning towards Christmas, for American racer Shaun Torrente, he and his Abu Dhabi team have two UIM World Championships to retain.

First, Torrente must travel to Dubai for the final two races of the XCAT World Championship over the weekend of 12th – 14th December.

He and his co-driver, Faleh Al Mansoori, lead the championship by 5 points over Arif Al Zaffain and Nadir Bin Hendi.

Al Zaffain and Bin Hendi will not only be racing Dubai Police in home waters, they spent hundreds of hours testing there when they were competing and enjoying huge success with the Victory Team.

Once finished with offshore racing for 2019, Torrente will head south to Sharjah for the final event of the F1H20 World Championship over December 18-21, he is currently topping the standings, and the only driver that can stop him winning back-to-back titles is Sweden’s Jonas Andersson.

The permutations to decide the title race are many, to simplify if Torrente finishes ahead of Andersson he is champion.

It’s clear that there is only one Christmas present that Shaun Torrente wants to hand to Team Abu Dhabi this year, and it’s double wrapped.
