Maurizio Carando stormed around a windy and rough Macau course this morning to take Pole Position for this weekend’s Asia Powerboat Championship.
The Italian’s lap of 57:78 was plenty quick enough to fend off Britain’s Miles Jennings who had posted an earlier quickest time of 59:66.
Multispark Racing’s Dave Sheldon was third fastest with a bravado performance which included a spectacular hook.
Norway’s Mette Brandt Bjerknæs had to pull out of the event after suffering back pain overnight, although she bravely put in 3 qualifying laps, Charlotte Camsey will replace her for today’s races.
