Jakub Rochowiak comes from the powerboat racing town of Żnin that has been organizing races for 40 years and he has been following the sport there since he was a child.

Rochowiak known as ‘Kuba’ started out as a safety crew on a rescue boat, but he always dreamed of being a competitor.
He started his racing career four years ago and thanks to hard work he became the UIM OSY 400 World Champion yesterday.

Strumnik dominates in Kupiškis

Cesare Strumnik dominated the UIM 2022 OSY 400 European Championship which was held in Kupiškis last weekend.

The Polish racer took pole position and went on to win the first three heats gaining a maximum of 1200 points.

Rene Suuk from Estonia took the Silver Medal after coming second to Strumnik in qualifying and the the 3 heats.

Knowing their medals were safe, both racers sat out the 4th heat allowing Gintaras Marcinkus from Lithuania the win and enough points for the third step on the podium.

L&OBMBC to host 2 world titles in 2021

The Lowestoft & Oulton Broad Motor Boat Club (L&OBMBC) will host the UIM GT15 and OSY 400 world championships in 2021.

Club Commodore Peter Mantripp who oversaw a very successful OSY400 European Championship in July of 2018 also announced on the club’s Facebook page last night that the L&OBMBC would be staging a round of next year’s national championship.

Due to the ‘elephant in the room’, there has been no circuit racing in Britain this year although the L&OBMBC and its members are staying positive and are looking forward to a brighter 2021.

Kupiškis in Lithuania will be hosting the 2020 European championships for GT15, GT30 and OSY-400 this weekend and you will be able to watch the action live!

GPS Meistras are using their YouTube channel to show all four heats of the GT15, GT30 and OSY-400 championships.

PRW will also be in Lithuania covering the event and will be posting round-up articles after the racing on Saturday and Sunday.
