Ferreira looks forward to back-to-back UIM F2 races

John Moore on 25th September 2020

Paulo Ferreira, the president of the Portuguese Powerboat Federation is looking forward to hosting back-to-back UIM F2 World Championship races in Vila Velha de Ródão next week.

The enthusiastic Ferreira was in Kaunus, Lithuania last weekend and witnessed fellow countryman Duarte Benavente win the first round of the championship.

He told me today:

It was very nice to see Duarte win over there of course!

He is now looking forward to the event in Portugal:

We will be giving our competitors good racing, good weather and good food!

The local people know the sport of powerboat racing and they will be supporting the drivers and enjoying the racing.

I asked him about the difficulties he had faced with the elephant in the room:

We will have medical personnel from the local hospital testing the racers and officials. Everyone in the paddock area will be required to wear a mask.

He continued:

I must thank our sponsors and partners, Liqui Moly, Rent A Star, the Câmara Municipal de Vila Velha de Ródão and the Government of Portugal.

We rounded off our telephone call on a final note:

John, please tell the competitors and officials that they will be staying in the beautiful Rainha D. Amélia hotel!

It certainly looks like Vila Velha de Ródão and its facilities will provide a fine backdrop to the culmination of the 2020 UIM F2 World Championship season.
