Inaugural Speed Records to be held at Yarmouth

John Moore on 1st September 2019

The 2019 British Offshore Racing season drew to a close at Cowes last weekend, however the governing body, the United Kingdom Offshore Powerboat Association, (UKOPRA) haven’t quite finished yet.

A ‘SPEED Weekend’ will be held over September 28-29 at Yarmouth, on the Isle of Wight.

The event will be organised by the Classic Offshore Powerboat Club, (COPC) under the sanction of UKOPRA, with the aim of running timed runs for licensed competitors.

Boats that took a podium placing during the 2019 season in any of UKOPRA’s 5 classes will be eligible to challenge for a recognised record, while those others will be able to compete for a performance certificate.

The course will be located to the east of Yarmouth Pier and the speeds will be a calculated average over a two-way run.

Entry to the event is £100 which includes the first run.
