Owen Jelf will not be taking part in the first round of the 2021 UIM F2 World Championship to be held in Kupiškis next week.
The British driver who won round 2 of the series in Vila Velha de Ródão and took the bronze medal last season is obviously very disappointed not to be competing in Lithuania and he told me today:
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions and the fact that our team is based in Italy, in this instance we can’t be at full strength for the race and haven’t even been able to test or prepare adequately.
Racing is all about proper preparation and so we have taken the disappointing decision to withdraw and hopefully we can return ready to race in Portugal when restrictions are lifted.
