Lijcs takes F4 pole in windy Viverone

John Moore on 26th September 2020

The 2020 UIM F4 World Championship got off to a late start today after strong winds whipped Lago di Viverone up into a boiling cauldron.

When the free practice session finally got underway, Britain’s Jonathan Brewer (below) had a coming together with Philipp Franz, fortunately both boats were made good for the rest of the proceedings.

Qualifying finally got underway late into the afternoon as the weather continued to play havoc with the timetable, although it improved for the timed session.

Philipp Franz was involved in more drama when he dramatically crashed out of the session, the German was unharmed.

Latvia’s Nikita Lijcs took pole position from Alexander Lindholm and Roope Virtanen.

Britain’s Harvey Smith was seventh quickest.

All four heats will now have to be competed for tomorrow, providing of course that Jupiter plays nicely.
