Miami Marine Stadium plays host to P1 SuperStock USA season opener

Miami Marine Stadium has been confirmed as hosting the P1 SuperStock USA season opener on 21st to 22nd of April.

The stadium has an interesting history having been built in 1963 as the first venue built for the purpose of powerboat racing and had hosted a number of sporting events and concerts before it was badly damaged by Hurricane Andrew in 1992 and declared unsafe.

Now back after restoration work, the stadium will play host to the first round of the 2018 P1 SuperStock USA Championship and with it create a new piece of history within the sport of powerboat racing.

Kissimmee, St Cloud will move on the schedule to host round two on 12 May before the regular visit to Jacksonville on the 2nd June.

St Pete Beach returns to the calendar after a successful debut season in 2017, staging the penultimate round on 16th to 17th of June.

The SuperStock USA Championship will once again join forces with the annual Sarasota Powerboat Festival on the 30th of June to 1st July to end the season and with it crown the 2018 champions.

Frank Silva and Tony Iannotta of Frank & Al’s Racing (above) narrowly defeated Craig Wilson’s Spectre team in 2017 and will be confident of retaining their crown, even with the possibility of some of the UK’s top racers making the trip across the Atlantic to compete this Summer.
