John Moore on 22nd July 2019

14 teams from 6 countries will be competing in Öregrund, over July 29-31, for the inaugural UIM Offshore 3J World Championship.

The event will be hosted by the Öregrunds Racerklubb which is based in a small village on the east coast of Sweden 150 km north of Stockholm.

UIM CominTech president, Mikael Lundblad had the idea of introducing this new class into the offshore scene, and he said today:

We hope this class will bring new racers into offshore racing.

We will try to keep it as simple as possible.

Most of the teams are juniors and some child parent team and our hope is to have 10 plus countries at the 2021 World Championship.

Among the international line-up of competitors is British racer Harvey Smith.

Smith has raced in circuit up until now, and this will be his debut in offshore racing.
