Outlaw Team Spitwater focussed on 2017 title victory

Sean Henshelwood on 1st March 2017

After a number of intermittent starts in the Australian V8 Superboat Championships over past seasons, Forbes’ Justin Roylance has committed himself to a full campaign in 2017 and comes into the title race with a brand new package capable of running at the top of the super-competitive 400-Class timesheets.

Lake Centenary in Temora on March 4 will be the scene of the new team’s debut. Running under the banner of Outlaw Team Spitwater, the #67 400-Class [Group A] boat will compete against Australia’s top teams for the coveted honour of becoming the national champion ahead of a 2018 season that will include a World Championship event on home soil.

Justin and Bree Roylance have built a solid team around their new machine, having employed the services of multiple Australian champions JRE to build not just a state-of-the-art 400-cubic inch, 600-horsepower V8 engine, but also a world class boat, the second of its kind in Australia.

Adding to the team’s new depth, is an array of partners who will support the program throughout the 2017 season. Led by new partner Spitwater, the Outlaw team will also enjoy ongoing support from Penrite as an official brand ambassador for the iconic Australian oil company.

Roylance’s Automotive and Industrial Centre, SP Tools, Signs You See, Forbes Smash Repairs and JRE will all support the 2017 program, whilst Joel Duggan will rejoin the team as navigator, sharing the directional duties with Tracey Little and Peter Hodge.

“I’m excited by what we’ve been able to put together for the new season,” Justin Roylance admitted. “The Australian championships is one of the toughest in the world, and the 400-Class field has been getting better and better with every passing year. We were able to get ourselves onto the podium in 2016, but we knew that to be a contender, and represent our partners in the best possible light, that we would need to go another level again, and partnering with JRE who build the best engines in the country was the first step. The development of a new hull, the second.

“We’re proud to be able to represent Spitwater, who interestingly will also be the Superboat title sponsor of the Keith Diesel & Dirt Derby at the end of the month at the all-new South Australian jetboat circuit so we’ll be looking for a good showing there, and to have support from Penrite and SP Tools too is an honour.

“I can’t thank my family enough for their support, and obviously Roylance’s Automotive and Industrial Centre, Signs You See and Forbes Smash for their impressive work, it’s going to be a tough season, but we couldn’t be any better prepared!”

Outlaw Team Spitwater are proudly supported by Spitwater, Penrite, Roylance’s Automotive and Industrial Centre, SP Tools, Signs You See, Forbes Smash Repairs and JRE.
