Austrian ace Kevin Reiterer will be on board as Victory Team makes its entry into the 2018 UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship.

The five-time former world champion, who will turn 26 in August this year, signed up with Victory Team last month as their lone entry in the Ski Division GP1 with the tacit focus of mounting a challenge for the world title in his very first season with the Dubai-based outfit.

Friday witnessed a huge turnout of riders in the Runabout GP1 and this necessitated that 18 of the 29 sign-ins had to face a 20-minute pre-qualifying session to fill the 14 available slots as per rules laid down by the UIM.

It was Denmark’s Marcus Jorgensen easing his way into official qualifying with a best lap of 1:57.30 minutes, leaving Italy’s Mattia Fracasso and Hungary’s Gyorgy Kasza in second and third respectively.

With Chris Wilkinson as the manager of the aquabike division, Victory Team is confident of establishing a fully functioning squad of young riders from the UAE.

Huraiz Al Mur Huraiz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Victory Team commented:

We are aware of the immense talent that a professional like Kevin brings to the table in the world of aquabikes.
Since this is the first-ever season for Victory Team we decided to have a racer of his caliber to lead our charge for the world crown.
