Sam Lucas, a rising star in the world of boat racing, is set to make his first appearance in the UIM F2 World Championship. Lucas, hailing from Victoria, Australia, will be racing in the prestigious event aboard the acclaimed Mollgaard boat, previously driven to victory by Stefan Hagin.
Lucas, 29, brings a wealth of experience and a strong passion for boat racing to the championship. With roots in the sport dating back to his childhood, his competitiveness was ingrained watching his older brother’s ski racing endeavors. Embracing his love for the sport, Lucas began racing Thundercats at the age of 16 and has been making waves throughout Australia.
As the current Commodore of the Victorian Outboard Club and Vice President of Outboards of the state APBA, Lucas has consistently proven his prowess on the water. His impressive track record includes numerous wins and podium finishes in circuit races and ski races across Australia.
Lucas secured notable victories such as the Australian Unlimited Mono Hull Bert Hines Tennessee Boat Trophy and the Victorian 2100cc Championship. Lucas then transitioned to a GP boat and continued his streak of success. Finishing third overall in the Australian Formula Powerboat Grand Prix and clinching the Rookie of the Year title.
In the current 2022/2023 season, Lucas has showcased his versatility by competing in a Jet Ski race, as well as circuit races. He has already achieved podium finishes in the Glenmaggie & District Boat Club’s Gold Cup and secured a first-place victory in the Unlimited Outboard category.
With impressive accomplishments under his belt, Lucas is ready to take on the UIM F2 World Championship and showcase his skills on an international stage. Partnering with Stefan Hagin’s winning Mollgaard boat, Lucas is poised to make a strong impression in his debut race.
