Solvang bounces into GT30 lead!

John Moore on 15th August 2020

2019 UIM GT30 world champion, Andrè Faye Solvang leads the European championship tonight, but only after a lengthy jury hearing.

Kärol Soodla from Estonia won heat 1 in convincing style with the pole sitter, Finland’s Arttu Saari dropping to third.

Solvang moved up two places from his fourth grid position to grab a very valuable 300 points.

In heat 2 Norway’s Solvang got a blistering start from the lady racer but the pair had a coming together on the first lap and the red flag was dropped.

Solvang’s team made hasty duck tape repairs to his damaged deck while Soodla was unable to continue due to prop, gear case and hull damage.

The Norwegian won the re-started race from Laura Lakovica-Lakovica and Arttu.

The race jury ruled Solvang / Soodla incident to be a ‘racing accident’ after considering all the evidence.

With that decision, Andrè Faye Solvang tops the leader board with a mighty 700 points, Arttu has 450 and Soodla’s valuable heat 1 win puts her into third overall.

It’s going to be sensational tomorrow!
