Stark – ‘I did my race and I could not do any more’

Chris Davies on 15th December 2018

Team Abu Dhabi’s Erik Stark didn’t get the season finale he had hoped for as his first place and the 20 points gained in today’s Grand Prix of Sharjah were not enough to claim the 2018 F1H2O World Championship title.

Stark mantained his composure and guided his DAC through the closing nervy laps to confirm a start-to-finish victory, keeping a solid lead over Andersson for the whole race and leaving his team-mate and newly crowned World Champion Shaun Torrente in third.

Right after the race Stark stated:

I didn’t hope too much before, you know. Shaun is a very good driver.

I did my race and I could not do any more.

I had some bad luck in Abu Dhabi.

That was it.

The UIM silver medallist, four times F2 World Champion, had an extraordinary 2018 season in F1H2O, winning three out of the seven Grands Prix and ending the season with 85 points overall.
