The second round of the 2019 UIM F2 World Championship will be held at Tønsberg, Norway this weekend.
Team Abu Dhabi’s Rashed Al Qemzi goes into the event as championship leader due to his win in Kaunus, Lithuania last month.
Due to some surprising results in the first round, Sweden’s Daniel Segenmark is second with the Sharjah Team’s Ferdinand Zandbergen in third.
This will be the seventh consecutive year that F2 racing has taken place in Tønsberg, organisers Frode Sundsdal and Joyce Christine Andersen set the race up in 2013 as a UIM International Ordinary race and since 2014 it has enjoyed World Championship status.
In those years, it has become a firm favourite with racers and spectators alike, the Tonsberg start run has now become an iconic showcase of the sport.
Tønsberg, is the oldest town in Norway and has been featured in the incredibly popular Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.
The town has been used in Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger and in the highest grossing film of all time, Avengers Infinity War, where the town is revealed to be where the Norse God’s, the Asgardians, have made their new home and renamed Tønsberg to New Asgard.
The action will get under way on Friday evening with the crowd pleasing Match Racing and Speed Runs.
