Jelf Racing’s youngest driver George Elmore was awarded with his 2021 Circuit Powerboat Association GT30 British Championship crown. After a toughly fought championship campaign that saw the title go down to the last race of the season George raced with composure and a clear head to ensure the championship win.

But the awards didn’t stop there for the team.

George along with teammate Ian Blacker received the double in the Concourse De Elegance Trophies for the Junior and Sports boat classes, respectively. Concourse De Elegance is a term of French origin that means a “competition of elegance” and refers to an event where prestigious vehicles are displayed and judged. Both drivers were awarded their respective trophies for ensuring their boats, themselves, their equipment, and the team are always well presented at races and events.

Another award for the Team saw Ben Jelf Awarded Mechanic of the Year. Ben a formidable driver himself had taken a break from racing whilst he finished his mechanic qualifications and became an MOT Tester for the family garage. He spent the season crewing for all three of the team drivers both nationally and internationally and attended Coniston Records Week to assist one of his peers Jonny Brewer in achieving his British and World Powerboat Record dreams as well as aiding other teams and drivers throughout the season.

Firstly, we would like to thank the club and its volunteers for a fantastic evening of celebrations, a lot of arduous work goes into these events and people don’t always recognise the dedication these people undertake to make the event a success at a high standard. We came to see George awarded his GT30 British Championship title after a fantastic season for him with lots of entertaining and close battles on the water, it certainly was a season to remember that saw him top the podium positions and the points table. To also have the teams arduous work and dedication recognised with a further three trophies in a double Concourse D’Elegance and Mechanic of the Year ends a fantastic season for the team. We now turn our attention the season ahead and look forward to getting back on the water following the winter break and hopefully some more trophies ahead.
