Team Abu Dhabi’s Rashid Al Mulla underlined his status as the world’s top freestyle aquabike rider with outright victory in the Grand Prix of Sharjah today.
The Emirati, who secured a second successive UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship crown by winning the first two motos on Wednesday, completed a Sharjah hat-trick to extend his winning sequence to ten Grand Prix.
Team-mate Rashed Al Tayer was denied a podium finish to end the 2019 series when mechanical problems put him out of the final Runabout GP1 moto of the season.
The real drama followed when Denmark’s championship and race leader, Marcus Jorgensen, was agonizingly halted by engine failure on the last lap, allowing Jeremy Perez of France to take the moto victory and retain his world title.
