Third time lucky for Tommy?

John Moore on 11th January 2018

NonsolomareTV are reporting that the Italian offshore team, Tommy One will have a third crack at winning the Cowes Torquay Cowes race this August.

Maurizio Schepici has entered his Seatek powered Metamarine hull again, the same hull he used in 2015 and 2016.

In 2015, after a duel for the lead to Torquay against Vector Martini Rosso, mechanical issues set-in leaving the Italian team having to rely on a tow, 2016 saw further disappointment when they broke in the Solent.

43 year old Schepici, established the Italian record hammer throwing record with a distance of over 65 m in 2007, changing sports, he then went on to win the UIM P1 Endurance World Championship in 2010.

It’s been 8 years since Fabio Buzzi won the Cowes Torquay Cowes and for the Italians, that is too long!
