Dubai’s Victory Team have today announced that Alex Carella has joined their F1H2o team for this season.
The Italian driver was released from the Abu Dhabi team immediately after winning his fourth World Championship in Sharjah last December.
Abu Dhabi Team Manager Guido Cappellini formally announced hours later that he had procured the services of Shaun Torrente, leaving the Victory Team short of a top class driver.
Since then the obvious assumption was that the UAE teams of Victory and Abu Dhabi would swap drivers for 2018 and at the second day of the Dubai Boat Show today it was confirmed.
Carella said,
I’m joining Victory Team firstly for the excellence and the professionalism of this team and secondly because they have been a leading force in the world of powerboat racing for years and for me it’s a dream come true to finally come on board and be a part of this team.
After speaking several times with the Team Manager Scott Gillman, I felt the Victory Team would provide me with the platform to go racing with the spirit with which I always loved to race.
There is a true family spirit in the Victory Team and I’m sure with this feeling I can come back stronger than before, racing in the best way I can.
