Shaun Torrente had, ‘a good day in his Indian office’ this afternoon when he topped the first Extra Free practice times in Amaravati.

The Team Abu Dhabi driver currently lies third overall in the 2018 UIM F1H2o World Championship, the points leader Thani Al Qemzi was 4th quickest with a lap 1.40 seconds slower than that of Torrente.

Torrente told me after:

This is a continuation from our recent testing in Abu Dhabi, I drove conservatively and have more if needed in Qualifying tomorrow.

Erik Stark, the third of the Abu Dhabi drivers had an issue when a coil went down on his motor and couldn’t continue.

Jonas Andersson running in Amaravati colours impressed the local fans with the second quickest time.

Alex Carella’s fourth fastest lap may be a sign that Victory Team are finally finding the speed needed to challenge the front runners, he said:

Today was really encouraging for us. I have a very good feeling in this new boat which we tested in Dubai and then shipped out here.

The set-up was pretty good and I just really felt comfortable in the boat. For me it is the best boat we have run this season.
