Torrente’s Title Defence On Track in Portugal

John Moore on 19th May 2019

2018 UIM F1H2o World Champion, Shaun Torrente, got the perfect start to his title defence in Portimao this afternoon.

The American used his Pole Position to full advantage as he beat his team-mate, Thani Al Qemzi (below) away from the lights and then put in a dominating and mature performance.

Norway’s Marit Stromoy who started from third lost places to Jonas Andersson and Philippe Chiappe in the early stages, however, the French driver dropped out on lap 28 with a fuel issue (below).

Erik Stark, who rolled out of Q2 yesterday, started in 7th and finished in 8th – He couldn’t find the pace that he showed earlier this weekend due to trim pump issues.

21 year old Alberto Comparato put in an impressive display, a faulty fuel injector robbed him of a qualifying position yesterday, the Italian worked his way up from the back of the grid to 8th on his F1H2o debut.
