UIM F2 – The Yanks are coming!

Chris Davies on 13th February 2018

Even though the opening round of the 2018 UIM F2 World Championship is still over three months away, news has slowly started to filter through about who will be joining this ultra competitive series this year.

One name that immediately caught people’s attention was the IOGP Series 2017 ‘Rookie of the Year’ Brent Dillard and just to underline how tough he and his team expect their first season of racing in the world championship to be Brent will be racing the Moore hull that Pierre Lundin won the 2016 World and European Championship titles with.

Dillard, from Sumter, South Carolina has been racing circuit boats for over twelve years now, picking up seven APBA National Championships and five North American Championships along the way, as well as being inducted into the APBA Hall of Champions back in 2008.

With the backing of Dillard Financial Solutions, Inc., which is Brent’s main Sponsor, the team will also be calling on the experience of Christian Bubben Lundin to kick start the challenge.

Lundin told Powerboat Racing World:

Steve Dillard contacted me for a few months ago, he told me that they had been following our teams racing exploits and saw what Pierre had managed to achieve. So when they decided to race in the F2 World Championship they wanted to buy the best equipment they could find.

At the end of April, Brent and the team are expected to start a testing programme in Sweden under the guidance of both Christian and Pierre Lundin before making their way to Kaunas for the F2 Lithuanian Grand Prix.

Working alongside the Lundin brothers will be the teams race engineer Brendon Power.

Team Manager Steve Dillard commented:

To help us get adjusted with the F2 world championship program we though what better way could we achieve that then by having both Christian and Pierre along with us in Lithuania.
Our USA team is very excited to be a part of the F2 family and we hope to be very competitive.

Christian Lundin is more than happy:

I’m very comfortable that my ‘Pride and Joy’ has gone to a good and passionate race family.
