The Vestfold Fylkeskommune (Vestfold County Municipality) have today announced that they will be financially backing this year’s Tønsberg Båtrace.

County Mayor Rune Hogsnes has been impressed by the way that event has evolved and the positive economic impact that the race has on Tønsberg.

Hogsnes has pledged 200,000 Norwegian Krone (approx €21,222) towards the running of the 2018 event.

Vestfold Fylkeskommune’s Head of Sport, Culture and Health, Ellen Eriksen explained:

The Tønsberg Båtrace is an amazing annual festival that is free to view for all of the local community.

Per Velde, the President of the Norges Motorsportforbund (NMF) is excited by the vision of the event organisers Joyce Christine Andersen and Frode Sundsdal:

This event gives the NMF a template for similar motor sport races that will be held in Norway.

Now we look forward to the weekend of August 3rd – 5th!

Now into its fifth year, the Tønsberg Båtrace will be running a round of the UIM F2 World Championship for the 4th time with a record entry list.

31 boats from 19 different nations will head to Tonsberg for the event due to be staged over the weekend of 3-5 August.
