Victory Team’s Kevin Reiterer powered his way as joint leader in the overall standings at the end of the opening round of the 2018 UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship held in Gallipoli, Italy last weekend.
Participating in the season-opening Grand Prix of Italy, Kevin Reiterer took second place in the second Moto held on Sunday to stay abreast with French competitor Raphael Maurin with an identical 45 points after two races.
Mickael Poret, also from France, is in third place overall with 29 points.
Reiterer, one of the most recent acquisitions of Victory Team earlier this summer, had opened with a win in Moto One on Saturday evening.
In Sunday’s second race, the 25-year-old Austrian was in the lead with Maurin on his tail after starting from fourth place.
But the French pilot proved that there was no denying him of a top placing as took control of the race as early as in the second lap to finish way ahead of the pack led by Reiterer – an impressive 39.78 seconds away.
Reiterer followed the leader home to give Victory Team a maiden podium, with Poret completing a very good weekend on his Bullet V3 to again be the best of the non-Kawasaki riders.
