The UIM has announced that the calendar of the 2017 UIM XCAT World Championship is finally taking shape.
While it was long known that the Championship will start in China and end in the United Arab Emirates, the confirmation of the dates and venues in China took more time than expected.
The opening Round of the 2017 UIM XCAT World Championship will assemble the XCAT Elite from 22nd -24th September in Zhengzhou, while the City of Hangzhou will host the second Round from 20th -22nd October.
Powerboat racing is booming in China and Mr. Lu Shan, the contracted UIM Partner promoting the XCAT races in
China, has been granted an extension of deadline until 15th August to finalise discussions with cities interested
in staging a possible additional Round of the 2017 UIM XCAT World Championship in China, to be held in between,
from 13th-15th October.
End of October the XCAT fleet will move on to the U.A.E. for the final stage of the 2017 UIM XCAT racing
season, which will culminate in the final Round to be held in Dubai between 30th November and 2nd December,
coinciding with the Emirates National Day.
UIM President Raffaele Chiulli underlined the merit of the combined effort of all parties involved:
The Chinese Promoter Baia Blu d’Oriente and the U.A.E. Marine Sports Federation, led by President Huraiz Al Mor Bin Huraiz, as well as Dubai International Marine Club Chairman Ahmed Bin Mes’har were instrumental in securing an
attractive 2017 UIM XCAT Season Calendar, which will offer the Offshore Powerboat community and the global
TV audience spectacular XCAT racing in the coming months between September and December 2017.
