The Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) have announced that the next rounds of the 2018 XCAT World Championship will be held on Lake Maggiore, Stresa, Italy.

The series last raced at the Italian venue in 2014 and drew spectators in their thousands.

Large crowds in Stresa back in 2014.

Due to that previous positive reception, the Mayor of Stresa, Giuseppe Bottini has agreed to host another event.

Pasquale Sesana (operations Director of the XCAT World Championship) with the Mayor of Stresa, Giuseppe Bottini.

Bottini commented yesterday:

We have been in touch with the UIM for months and finally our date is confirmed!
Our city will host the races over the weekend of 6th – 8th July.
Not only will the nautical competitions animate Stresa, but we also aim to organise a series of side events.
It’s an opportunity to raise the visibility of Stresa and for the whole of Lake Maggiore.

The boats will hit the lake on Friday the 6th for a free practice session, while on Saturday and Sunday there will be official qualifying, Race 1 and Race 2.
