Fresh after the success of the Asia Powerboat Championship – Singapore, the two organisers signed a Cooperation Agreement.

The Singapore Power Boat Association (SPBA) will be offering powerboat racing training to potential local competitors, and for their part, the APA presented two of their Tohatsu powered Shakespeare T750 boats to be used for the purpose.

Locally based racer, Campbell Jenkins, who finished second overall in last weekend’s championship, expects at least one driver from Singapore to have fully trained-up by the time that the series returns to the country next year.

Miles Jennings put in a masterclass performance at the Asia Powerboat Championship – Singapore this weekend, he took three race wins and two seconds in the five race event.

His triumph was remarkable considering that his hull badly de-laminated during the final race and Jennings was fighting to control the boat.

Campbell Jenkins from Australia, was second overall. The man that now resides in Singapore took a race four win and was always Jennings’ main threat throughout the weekend.

Third overall was 24 year old, Charlotte Camsey. She now can boast a podium position in an international race – an outstanding performance by the determined and gutsy lady driver.

She narrowly beat the engineer from Poole, Dave Sheldon to the podium.

The notable performances continued, Mark Hayward won the final race, Kiki Wong fresh from her racing accident yesterday, finished all three races today, while Brian Pelham finished in all of the races.

The Championship was an incredibly successful event, both on and off the water, and the Asia Powerboat Association should be commended.

Miles Jennings completed a hat-trick of Asia Powerboat Championship – Singapore wins this morning, and this time he did it starting from the back of the grid!

With a reverse order pole, Jennings ploughed through an incredibly rough start with Dave Sheldon just behind.

It stayed that way at the front.

Campbell Jenkins finished third and Jennings said:

I have to keep winning and make sure that I keep Campbell behind me, I only have a 56 point lead, and it isn’t enough.

Kiki Wong fresh from her racing accident yesterday, finished the race, she told me after:

I must be crazy!

It was another rough and tough race, although it was the first time that all eight boats had completed the course this weekend.

Kiki Wong will be back in racing action at the Asia Powerboat Championship – Singapore.

The lady racer who had her competitive debut cut short after a dramatic accident yesterday will compete in the final two races to be held here today.

Kiki is keen to get back into her boat, that was repaired overnight, in order to regain her confidence.

The spiritual Kiki told me this morning:

Everything happens for the perfect order, today is my re-birth.

The weather for today is set to bring gusting winds and thunderstorms.
