]]> 20 drivers will compete in the Kopiko Grand Prix of Indonesia this weekend, the first round of the 2023 UIM F1H2o World Championship.

Three-time world champion Shaun Torrente will be defending his 2022 title, while fellow American Brent Dillard will be making his debut in the series.

Another rookie, Brock Cohen from Australia, has joined the Italian Comparato F1 team.

Live streaming of qualifying and the race will be available to view via the F1H2o website and Facebook page, and new for this year via Discovery+ and Eurosport.

Qualifying for the Kopiko Grand Prix of Indonesia will be held at 08:00 GMT (15:00 local time) on Saturday and the race will start at the same time on Sunday.

Zhengzhou to host round two as F1H2O racing returns to China after four-year absence.

The Chinese city of Zhengzhou will host the second round of the 2023 UIM F1H2O World Championship on April 28th -30th.

H2O Racing today (Tuesday) announced the country’s spectacular return to the sport after a four-year absence. Zhengzhou is the capital and largest city in the Henan Province in the central region of the country. It lies close to the Yellow River and is a major transportation hub, linking the country to Europe and beyond.

 

H2O Racing founder Nicolò di San Germano said:

 

“We are proud to be one of the first international sports to go back to China after the Covid-19 pandemic. This country has been a home for F1H2O for the last 30 years. It is a major boost to the championship that we are able to return for the first time since China hosted two back-to-back races in Xiamen in 2019. The reemergence of the country and the dropping of restrictions is terrific news.”

Di San Germano also thanked the China Motorboat Association (CMA) and local organiser Tianrong for their sterling efforts in being able to arrange an event so soon after the country re-opened after the pandemic.

 

The countdown is now on to the start of the 2023 UIM F1H2O Kopiko Grand Prix of Indonesia, round one of the championship, on Lake Toba in northern Sumatra on February 24 th -26 th.

 

A delegation from Zhengzhou will be present at the opening round in Indonesia for the official flag hand over, as has become tradition on rounds of the UIM F1H2O World Championship.

JRM Racing would like to congratulate Brent Dillard on signing a contract to race for CTIC China Team in the F1 World Championship.

We’ve enjoyed having him in our team last season and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours. Brent is a determined and talented driver who, we are sure, will have great success in Formula 1.

Jamey Stallard said to PRW :

 

I would have done exactly the same, it might be too soon, but we will see. We support him. JRM Racing is already in discussions with other drivers for the 2023 season.

Thank you so much to my team!
From last week getting 3rd and then getting disqualified for the engine makes today so much more worth it. We started this weekend thinking we were going to race our blue printed (modified) back up engine, however we had the engine checked Saturday morning and the engineer did a little too much to the engine so we could not race our back up engine. We thought our weekend was over since we didn’t have another engine to race. David Moore talks with his friend Fabrice Boulier to let us rent a stock (not modified) engine to race. Thank you so much Fabrice, my entire team and I are greatful for your kindness. We started P8, finished P5 on the race course. 2nd place gets a 1 lap penalty for switching lanes and 1st, 3rd, and 4th get disqualified for engine modifications.
