World Champion Kevin Reiterer of Austria will lead a group of Victory Team riders into the 3rd round of the 2019 UAE Aquabike Championship that will be held at the Yas Beach in Abu Dhabi, this weekend.
The opening round of the championship was held earlier in January and the Victory Team was off to a brilliant start with Reiterer winning top honours ahead of former ten-time world champion Steven Dauliach of France in the Ski Division GP1 category at Jumeirah’s Mercato Beach.
Joining Reiterer were two of the UAE’s best talents – ten-year-olds Suhail Rashid Al Tayer and Hamdan Saeed Jaber (above), who were recently taken in as full-time members of the newly-launched Victory Team Marine Sports Academy.
Al Tayer, eldest son of Class One and F1 driver Rashid Al Tayer, showed fine form to win the top honours in the Ski Junior GP3 3.2 class, leaving Al Harbi in second.
Chairman of the Board of Directors at Victory Team, Huraiz Bin Huraiz commented:
Our focus is clear. We want our juniors to be prepared for the future and that is why we have a world champion like Kevin [Reiterer] leading the coaching programme with Stephen [Dauliach].
The youngsters have done well so far, not just with their focus on actual racing, but also during training sessions that we host for them at least three times a week.
Whenever such an ambitious project is taken up, it is always right to keep the bigger picture in mind.
These youngsters need guidance in the finer points of racing and competition, and both Kevin and Stephen have been doing a great job in mentoring these riders in the right and professional manner.
The event has so far attracted nearly 70 entrants participating in different categories.
