Just two weeks ago PRW learnt that the UIM F2 European Championship to be held in Macon, France was cancelled. Now we understand that the opening round of the UIM F2 2022 World Championship is in complete disarray.
With the race scheduled to take place in two months’ time the major sponsor has now decided to pursue other options.
In a conversation with the venue host, based on the outskirts of Liege in Belgium, they confirmed that all the infrastructure including cranes and VIP tents had been arranged and that the new race location for UIM F2 World Championship is more than capable of holding race meetings. To prove the point the weekend before the F2 race, the venue is hosting a European Jetski event with one hundred and fifty-four pilots entered.
Amongst the many drivers that PRW spoke to, all voicing their collective disappointment that the event has been cancelled, was the Lithuanian F2 race organiser Edgaras Riabko, President at the Lietuvos Motorlaivių Federacija who said
F2 will never have a strong or stable calendar, without a championship promoter.
Portugal will now host the opening round in June at the Vila Velha de Ródão race venue, before hosting Round Two a week later at Ribadouro/Baião.
