InXs for Jennings

Chris Davies on 20th May 2022

Miles Jennings fresh from his victory with Drew Langdon where the pair won the Round The Island race in the UKOPRA World Offshore Championship, has been out testing with throttleman Alex Pratt in Florida in the 345 Racing boat prior to this weekend’s opening round of the UIM Class 1 World Championship.

When Jennings spoke to PRW he said

Yes, it was great wining the Round the Island race beating the Italian team Tommy 1 by just two seconds with us averaging over one hundred mph. I don’t believe for one minute that the flat calm conditions we had that weekend will be anything like the ones we will get this time round.

Jennings will be swapping from a forty-foot Outerlimits monohull to a forty-two-feet Victory catamaran sponsored by Xinsurance for this weekend’s Cocoa Beach race on Florida’s Space Coast and prior to the race they have been out testing.

Once back ashore Jennings confirmed

It was a successful first test, no leaks, good oil pressure and temps. The comms worked well between me and Alex, so, yes, a good shake down with some benchmarks set for changes ready for Saturdays official practice.

The pairing of Jennings and Pratt in this new Cayman Islands team owned by Mario Rankin is an exciting addition to our international fleet. Jennings has racing in his blood having started his career back in the 1970s and with five world titles and a dozen British ones to his name he will be the perfect partner to Pratt who at twenty-seven will be the youngest racer in the championship.

To follow all the race action the live stream will begin at 10.00am local time on Sunday 22 May (15:00 UK time) and it can be watched on the P1 Offshore website (https://P1offshore.com – click on the panel on the front page). The UIM Class 1 race is scheduled for 13:00 Local time (18:00 UK time).
