Undoubtedly, quite a few times. Many will say he lost it, both in 2020 and 2022. Last year, both he and Shun Torrente wished for the battle to be settled on the water, without any technical issues. Jonas got the start and pulled away, but eventually ended up dropping out with a few laps to go due to a technical problem. Shaun crashed early. 

With enough points to win, Shaun was left watching from the shore side as Jonas‘ luck ran out. Despite having worked harder, been more motivated and focused than ever before, Jonas was unable to pull away and finish the race to secure the title. He “lost” it for the 2nd time in Sharjah. It would have been his 2nd UIMF1h2o Worldtitle. 

The action in Indonesia starts this Friday with an extra free practice session, and all eyes will be on Jonas to see if he can achieve the success he has been striving towards. 

FUNFACT : Shaun won his first UIMF1h2o World title in 2018 – since 2019 to date Jonas and Shaun has scored excactly the same amount of points. Shaun has won the UIMF1h2o World title 3 times, Jonas 1.
