Rookie Whittle exceeds expectations

Tony Blom-Pettersen on 16th September 2022

Sam Whittle is enjoying his first year competing at international level in UIM F2.

After scoring his first points last weekend in Ribadouro, he sits eighth in the World Championship, just two points behind reigning World Champion Rashed Al Qemzi.

Not only that, but he also currently heads his fellow British drivers and those running similar French built and designed Moore hulls.

Whittle told PRW:

I’ve managed to finish all three races this season, although I was off the pace in Augustow and Kupiškis.

Last weekend’s course suited me – It was more like racing at home.
It was a mentally tough and rough race – I was over the moon with the result and championship points.

His Powertech Marine Team has been busy preparing his boat since their arrival in Vila Velha de Ródão since Tuesday.

Whether Whittle can head from the Moon to Pluto on Sunday, is yet to be seen.
